Context

The Carrefour group is a European leader in the mass distribution sector. In 2017 it achieved more than 88 billion of turnover. The roup has recently started a massive transtormation into the digital age. Today, it is the first supermarket chain in Europe to directly compete with Amazon on smart stores.

In this context and in line with its "Carrefour 2022" transformation plan, Carrefour wants to improve the purchasing process for its customers by eliminating the product scan and using biometric authentication for checkout.

  • Development of face detection and extraction algorithms for facial recognition during the study phase.
  • Development of prototypes (patent pending by Carrefour Innovation) enabling customer detection and the exchange of biometric payment data.
